We utilize a HIPAA compliant platform called Doxy.Me for our telemedicine services. Our unique and private waiting room is at sleepmds.doxy.me

If you are unsure which provider you’ll be meeting with, we welcome you to enter our “Intake” waiting room and our staff will direct you to the appropriate provider.

We prefer to utilize Doxy.Me to allow for video and audio connection during your telemedicine appointment. If there are any technical difficulties, we will do our best to accommodate. Please phone our staff at (925) 415 – 5353 if you need any assistance.

We are happy to see you even if you don’t have a physician referral to our office.

No. While we work closely with TVSC and SDF, we are a separate entity. Sleep Medicine Specialists of California is a private practice of Sleep Medicine providers. TVSC & SDF are sleep laboratories that conduct in-lab sleep studies in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our phones are on Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm PST. We continue to monitor our voicemails on Friday so please leave us a message if you have an urgent inquiry on Friday. You are also welcome to email us at registration@sleepmds.com

Yes. We complete a thorough benefits investigation before any sleep studies or allergy testing. We can complete an office visit benefits investigation upon request.

Yes. Office visit copayments are due at the time of service. If you have any questions or concerns about a bill you’ve received you’re welcome to email us at registration@sleepmds.com or call/text us at (925) 415 – 5353.

Email us at registration@sleepmds.com and note the specific date of service that you need a receipt for. Our team will email you an itemized receipt within 24 business hours.

Please contact your DME company and request that they fax us a resupply order to us at (888) 850-1210. You must have an office visit with us within the last year to obtain a new supply prescription. If you are up to date on your office visits and we receive a request from your DME company for a resupply, our providers will sign your resupply prescription and send this to the DME company with a copy of your most recent clinical note. At that time, your DME provider will contact you to

initiate your shipment. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact our intake team at (925) 415 -5353.

Please phone your pharmacy and request that they send us an electronic prescription refill request. If you are compliant with your office visits we will authorize this refill. If you request a change to an existing prescription we will need to schedule an office visit so the provider can discuss & document the medical necessity for this prescription change. If you are on a controlled substance you need to have an office visit with our provider every 3-4 months to be compliant with the Department of Justice controlled substance guidelines.

Our team will walk you through how to set up your sleep study and answer any additional questions that you may have.

  • If you are utilizing a disposable home sleep test device you can phone our office at (925) 415 – 5353 the following day during normal business hours and we can assist you.
  • If you are utilizing any other device or if your request is urgent you can phone our on-call provider at (925) 405 – 5353

Great question! We want your sleeping conditions during the night of your study to mimic a traditional night of sleep for you. This means that you will generally complete the same night time routine. If you have any questions about any specific medications or devices please contact one of our providers at (925) 415 – 5353.

Yes. Please stop taking all antihistamines or allergy medications 5 days prior to your test. The allergy test  will be conducted on your back and we apply hydrocortisone cream after your test is completed. It is recommended that you wear a shirt that you don’t mind getting a little hydrocortisone cream on. This cream will not permanently harm your garments. The study is scored and interpreted within three days. Results should be reviewed with your physician or in consult with our board certified sleep experts.

If you need to cancel or re-schedule, please contact us 3 days prior to the sleep study date.

Yes, the monitoring unit is portable.

Please do not have any alcoholic or caffeinated beverages after 12 pm on the day of your study.

We will set you up with the necessary equipment.

We advise that you do not have hair appointments the day of your study. Also feel free to bring your pillow or any comfort items to help you sleep.

Many insurances do cover a sleep study. We will do an in-depth benefits investigation before a sleep study is scheduled so we can walk you through the process. 

Studies are scored and interpreted within 3 days. We will review your results at your follow up appointment.
